VIDEO: Redhead performs with Watermelon @ Velvet Lounge (1/11/14)

On Saturday, January 11th, 2014, I was invited to do a cameo performance at Velvet Lounge with one of my favorite indie funk rock bands Watermelon. They’re from the Washington DC area and have recently relocated to New York. During their stops back home, they were accompanied by rappers Kwame Darko and MH The Verb, who were also present as we performed an impromptu version of Nas’ classic NY State of Mind. My good friend Flex Mathews was also in attendance.

Expect more work with myself and Watermelon as the future unfolds with brand new music for the 2014 year. Follow us on twitter @redheadpg and @Watermelonband.

VIDEO RECAP: The FarEXP appears on The LaZ Hour (1/1/2014)

As I’ve stated before in previous posts on this site, the album debut of The FarEXP titled The Expansion would be available in this new year of 2014. On an effort to promote this project, I’ve brought the members to The LaZ Hour to speak a little bit about the album and all banter in between. Of course, at the end of every segment, there is a freestyle cypher at the end. Thanks to Miguel for producing this video, DJ Laz-Eye, Dark Prince, and the rest of the staff for allowing us to appear for the program. Here is a short clip of the appearance for those who haven’t seen it.

NEW VIDEO: Redhead Drops Viral Video for “Too Much”

This is the single “Too Much” that comes from my debut EP Exxxactly in early 2014. I decided to create something based off one of my personal favorite movies From Dusk Till Dawn. TDeezy produced this track and I appreciate all the love shown for this particular song in the clubs, mixshows, and “other entities” that I won’t discuss yet. I couldn’t leave 2013 without releasing this music for everyone to hear. The official video will debut on my VEVO page in early 2014, as well as the song for download. Not to mention, my group The FarEXP (which consists of Ardamus, Fleetwood Deville, Flex Mathews, RNL, and myself) have completed our debut album The Expansion to be released in 2014. It has production from UnOwn, Oddisee, and Kev Brown. Take care everybody and Happy Holidays!!

SHOWING LOVE: @TheLaZHour names “Honesty Box” the Mixtape of the Month

Shouts to the fellas at the LaZHour for showing love to my first mixtape The Honesty Box. It’s a pleasure and an honor for the support and genuine respect. It’s very appreciated and much needed at this phase in my career. Thank you once again for lending me your ears and your time. Sincerely.

“The Honesty Box” Gets Played on @TheLaZHour

It’s always dope for me to make new friends, and that’s what I’m thankful for today on this holiday. Last night, Dj Freaky Ty contacted me to let me know that he was going to play tracks from my first mixtape project The Honesty Box on The LaZ Hour Show on Listen Vision Radio, which streams online. They had a great time spinning the music and cracking jokes.

Shoutout to the young female rapper they interviewed Dom of the District. I’m not a female, but what’s poppin? I could use some social media follows too. Also shouts to the homies Watermelon for a great show, and to Nicktha1da for playing the single “Too Much” at LO3. I need to hear this song played more often for increased awesomeness.

Incase you missed the broadcast since I didn’t post a direct link (stupid me), here’s a short video recap of them playing Spell It Out and Deranged:

Redhead Visits the LaZHour Show

Earlier this week, I visited the LaZHour radio show that streams online through Listen Vision Studios after previously attending the show the week before to talk about the Halloween Tape. LaZ-Eye was so impressed by my music that he wanted me to stop by more often. They did an interview with another artist, and I played them the Too Much single, as well as an impromptu freestyle session. This was the first time the song was played on the air and everyone unanimously loved it.

Shoutout to the staff and crew for supporting me. I feel truly humbled by the experience.

NEW MUSIC: Redhead Appears on Halloween Mixtape “Monsters Ball”

A couple of months ago, my good friend King Kan of A-Squad Records contacted me about donating a few music tracks for a mixtape project that he wanted to do for his company to be released on Halloween. His concept is that every artist wears a “mask” when they perform their craft to separate reality from artistic bliss. I thought it was interesting, so I sent him the track The Crucible.

This is a 45-minute hiphop compilation project mixed by DJ LaZ-EyE that follows the theme and features several artists from the DC area. Download this mixtape for free at TheHalloweenTape.com for more info, or come directly to Datpiff.

NEW REMIX: @LordeMusic – “Royals” (Feat. Redhead)

This is a pretty cool remix that I came up with after hearing the song Royals by the talented singer Lorde from New Zealand. A friend of mine suggested that I remix this song in my perspective and decided to drop this for fun. Hope you enjoy! More new music is on the way in a recording session that is in place as I type this out! Download this song for free and share it with your friends and family.

Music: Redhead – “The Night”

This was a track that I made from my first mixtape “The Honesty Box”. It’s one of my favorite songs that I’ve done. The sample is from a song that I used to listen to as a kid, and I wrote about my experiences in the music industry when I first got into it. The names have been changed/omitted to protect the innocent, and is all made with creative freedom. Check it out and let me know what you think.

VEVO Premiere: Redhead – “Aim To Please” (Music Video)

This is the VEVO premiere of the first music video that I’ve ever directed of myself called “Aim To Please”. It was done sometime last year where I was driving my car away from a house party and decided to tape the events of that night. I’m laughing at this in particular because you can clearly see that I’m ducking the police as I’m driving home. I wanted to put this record out because I wanted to showcase the different sides of myself as an artist, especially with the platform that I have with SFE/InGrooves/Fontana. There will be more upbeat, hilarious party songs in my next releases, but for this one, I wanted to showcase that I’m just a real person with real stories. Here is the video for your pleasure, and you can buy this song on Itunes/Amazon/eMusic and everywhere else, as well as Talk White

BONUS: Here’s also “Talk White” for good measure
