NEW MUSIC: Stephen Redhead – “You’re Still A Racist” (Joyner Lucas Freestyle)

I checked out a new song by rapper Joyner Lucas “I’m Not Racist”. Interesting concept, but the Black person’s rebuttal seemed kinda lacking in its context. So I decided to do a verse for fun. No big deal.

NEWS: Foot Locker Adds ‘Red Carpet’ to Official Playlist for Stores Nationwide

This is a big surprise to me. I was calling up a friend to talk about some things, and he texts me a series of videos from a Foot Locker store in Wheaton, MD. The store was playing my record “Red Carpet” through their official curated playlists. It turns out that whoever works for Foot Locker’s headquarters found the song and added it for stores nationwide. I’m beyond honored and happy about this. Thanks to Foot Locker for checking me out.

Here’s one of the videos that my friend sent me:

Before performing at their weekly music showcase, I sat down with the crew of Trill4Life Radio and talked about music, Caribbeans, and the blogger world.

NEW MUSIC: “Exxxactly” (Album)

It’s been a long time coming, as you could probably imagine. These are some songs that I created over the past year. The concept of Exxxactly is that, oftentimes, we tend to maneuver through life behind the perception of what other people perceive you to be. It’s like you’re playing a role at times so as not to confuse, offend, or embarrass people. But what’s the fun in that? One shouldn’t have to be put in a box to appease others that honestly wouldn’t care about your well-being anyway. Since I started making music, it’s been a constant theme of people telling me that because they feel that I look like a geek or nerd, that I should act like it (and subsequently make music off that).

For awhile, I played this role to get by. But now, as an adult, I don’t care about that anymore.  Sometimes you have to know your worth, and mine is knowing that I could do ANY type of music that I please. I’ve worked with hiphop, folk, rock, R&B and pop acts for almost a decade and I believe I know what’s good. I wanted this to be lighthearted, especially due to the current conditions of America. I don’t want to make any project that doesn’t reflect who I am or any particular “style” unless there’s a particular concept for it. For this project, I’m showing that you can’t put me in this proverbial box. It’s not accurate. It’s not cohesive. It’s not right or wrong. It’s not “exact”.

The 3 X’s in the name symbolize the R&B influence of the music. Women are attracted to what they hear and men are attracted to what they see. Since it’s music, I’m only interested in talking my thoughts for understanding. The men are just gonna have to wait and see what happens, haha.

Check out this album on the right side of my page in the iTunes section.  It’s also available on Spotify, Tidal, Google Play, and all other stores. If you want PHYSICAL copies (or support me directly via Bandcamp), you can go to the Store section.

NEW MUSIC: Redhead – “Cap Heights”

It’s been a minute since I updated this website since I’ve been working on my debut music project for all digital retail.  I’ve been getting impatient, so now I’m going to release something for ya’ll to stream and ride to.  This song is called “Cap Heights” and is produced by the homie Nature Boi, who also recently released a project of his own. We shot the video for this song a few weeks ago and we’re just working out the kinks.  Listen to this song exclusively on Apple Music and check out the photos from the shoot down below.

NEWS: Redhead Does Theme for “Straight Yak” Podcast

Recently, a good friend of mine Princess Black has been making waves on the internet due to her social commentary on race, police brutality, and other things relating to Black Lives Matter. She has been instrumental in an organization called Think Moor that specializes in bringing awareness to events that effect the African diaspora.

In an effort to further her efforts, she created a podcast called Straight Yak, where she covers several topics of this nature (as well as pop culture) while drinking her favorite: Hennessy. Not surprising, my record Hennessy Saint Laurent has been chosen as the theme song for the show.

Check out this fresh, hilarious, and informative podcast on ITunes and Soundcloud and subscribe for new weekly episodes.
