NEWS: Redhead Performs @ #FreshProduce in Washington DC (6/21/17)

Another appearance at the #FreshProduce showcase. I decided to just mingle with the crowd and share some bars with the producers that came with their new tracks. Not much footage to share, but a fan shared this small Instagram clip. Shouts to the folks at Vendetta for always showing love.

NEWS: Redhead Interview w/ Trill 4 Life Radio (Video)

Before performing at their weekly music showcase, I sat down with the crew of Trill4Life Radio and talked about music, Caribbeans, and the blogger world.

NEW MUSIC: “Exxxactly” (Album)

It’s been a long time coming, as you could probably imagine. These are some songs that I created over the past year. The concept of Exxxactly is that, oftentimes, we tend to maneuver through life behind the perception of what other people perceive you to be. It’s like you’re playing a role at times so as not to confuse, offend, or embarrass people. But what’s the fun in that? One shouldn’t have to be put in a box to appease others that honestly wouldn’t care about your well-being anyway. Since I started making music, it’s been a constant theme of people telling me that because they feel that I look like a geek or nerd, that I should act like it (and subsequently make music off that).

For awhile, I played this role to get by. But now, as an adult, I don’t care about that anymore.  Sometimes you have to know your worth, and mine is knowing that I could do ANY type of music that I please. I’ve worked with hiphop, folk, rock, R&B and pop acts for almost a decade and I believe I know what’s good. I wanted this to be lighthearted, especially due to the current conditions of America. I don’t want to make any project that doesn’t reflect who I am or any particular “style” unless there’s a particular concept for it. For this project, I’m showing that you can’t put me in this proverbial box. It’s not accurate. It’s not cohesive. It’s not right or wrong. It’s not “exact”.

The 3 X’s in the name symbolize the R&B influence of the music. Women are attracted to what they hear and men are attracted to what they see. Since it’s music, I’m only interested in talking my thoughts for understanding. The men are just gonna have to wait and see what happens, haha.

Check out this album on the right side of my page in the iTunes section.  It’s also available on Spotify, Tidal, Google Play, and all other stores. If you want PHYSICAL copies (or support me directly via Bandcamp), you can go to the Store section.

My peoples MH The Verb decided to have another show at Velvet Lounge in DC as he travels throughout Brooklyn. Last time we had a show together, it was pretty fun. Definitely wouldn’t pass this opportunity up.  Stop by for some laughs and good ol fashioned funk, rock, and hiphop. It costs $8 and my 30 min set is at 10pm sharp, so be smart about it and come on time!

Also, if you’re down with the JamCamp Festival, it will be moved to June 5th to 7th. Be sure to check out more details at their website.

NEWS: WPGC 95.5 FM Debuts “Too Much”

For the first time, my original music has played on a major radio station in the DC metropolitan area. It’s been a long time coming, and I appreciate the support and ALL the DJs that continue to support this record.

Shouts go to DJ Heat, Mana, DJ Laz-Eye of The LaZ Hour, DJ Kmeta, DJ Oso Fresh, DJ 2-Tone Jones, DJ On Point, DJ Absolut, Frantasy & Marc of BlisFM, DJ Sixth Sense, DJ No Requests, DJ Nature Boi, Nicktha1nda, DJ Best Kept Secret, DC Vinyl Headz, and everyone else that’s been spreading the word & supporting the video and the record and continuing to do so. The job isn’t over yet, but I’m loving where the path is going right now.

NEW MUSIC: The FarEXP (feat. Redhead) – The Expansion (Album)

Before I post this album, I have to briefly explain its context. Back in 2012 after the release of my mixtape The Schemata, I was approached to join a hiphop group called The FarEXP. I accepted the offer based on the inclusion of two members whom I’ve known for many years, even though I wasn’t aware of the music nor how they operate. After several recording sessions coupled with endless amount of fights & bickering, I quit the group on my own accord at the top of 2014 and decided to let them do what they wanted to do for the sake of the album. If you’re a fan of underground boom-bap rap music reminiscent of Slum Village & Souls of Mischief, you can take a listen. Production on this album is from UnOwn, Kev Brown, & Oddisee.

NEW VIDEO: Redhead Drops Viral Video for “Too Much”

This is the single “Too Much” that comes from my debut EP Exxxactly in early 2014. I decided to create something based off one of my personal favorite movies From Dusk Till Dawn. TDeezy produced this track and I appreciate all the love shown for this particular song in the clubs, mixshows, and “other entities” that I won’t discuss yet. I couldn’t leave 2013 without releasing this music for everyone to hear. The official video will debut on my VEVO page in early 2014, as well as the song for download. Not to mention, my group The FarEXP (which consists of Ardamus, Fleetwood Deville, Flex Mathews, RNL, and myself) have completed our debut album The Expansion to be released in 2014. It has production from UnOwn, Oddisee, and Kev Brown. Take care everybody and Happy Holidays!!

NEW MUSIC: Redhead Previews New Single “Too Much”

I’m dropping this new single around Thanksgiving of 2013. It’s called Too Much and is produced by TDeezy who I’ve previously worked with on a couple of tracks. My EP project Exxxactly is almost done and I’m totally excited about it. For the last few months, I’ve spent most of the time trying to find inspiration and living my life to gain a better perspective as an artist and a person in order to write my records with a more grounded sense of reality. This is a 15-second snippet of the record; the concept of the song is that a lot of times, when you do something great in your life and you tell your friends about it, there would be people that are genuinely happy for you. However, there are times when those “friends” interpret it in the wrong way. Either it would be jealousy, supposed “thirstiness”, or lack of ambition. If you’re the type of person that doesn’t want to be around negativity, you would like to separate yourself from the drama and keep building your potential to reach the goals you want to attain. You’ll still love your friends and will have no problem kicking with them, but if there’s time wasted and goals to be made, you can’t have anyone dragging you down. That’s why you’re “too much” for these people.
