NEW MUSIC: “Exxxactly” (Album)

It’s been a long time coming, as you could probably imagine. These are some songs that I created over the past year. The concept of Exxxactly is that, oftentimes, we tend to maneuver through life behind the perception of what other people perceive you to be. It’s like you’re playing a role at times so as not to confuse, offend, or embarrass people. But what’s the fun in that? One shouldn’t have to be put in a box to appease others that honestly wouldn’t care about your well-being anyway. Since I started making music, it’s been a constant theme of people telling me that because they feel that I look like a geek or nerd, that I should act like it (and subsequently make music off that).

For awhile, I played this role to get by. But now, as an adult, I don’t care about that anymore.  Sometimes you have to know your worth, and mine is knowing that I could do ANY type of music that I please. I’ve worked with hiphop, folk, rock, R&B and pop acts for almost a decade and I believe I know what’s good. I wanted this to be lighthearted, especially due to the current conditions of America. I don’t want to make any project that doesn’t reflect who I am or any particular “style” unless there’s a particular concept for it. For this project, I’m showing that you can’t put me in this proverbial box. It’s not accurate. It’s not cohesive. It’s not right or wrong. It’s not “exact”.

The 3 X’s in the name symbolize the R&B influence of the music. Women are attracted to what they hear and men are attracted to what they see. Since it’s music, I’m only interested in talking my thoughts for understanding. The men are just gonna have to wait and see what happens, haha.

Check out this album on the right side of my page in the iTunes section.  It’s also available on Spotify, Tidal, Google Play, and all other stores. If you want PHYSICAL copies (or support me directly via Bandcamp), you can go to the Store section.

REVIEW: “Exxxactly” by Nikki Mack of Don Diva Magazine

As some of you may know, I created a music project called Exxxactly that I’ve been working on & off producing over the last year. It’s finally come to fruition for November 15th, 2016 (tomorrow). This particular project, unlike my last one The Schemata, the sound focuses a lot on comedy and experimental R&B. I’m a big fan of Electronica music, but I just felt this urge to sing off-key like a weirdo for a summer project. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out for that summer release. No biggie, because the inevitable “Cuffin Season” is upon us and I believe it’s a good time for it all.

The first review of the project comes from Nikki Mack for Don Diva Magazine. I thank her so much for this eloquently written review. The fact she’s from Washington DC also makes me smile. Check out this review when you can, and come back here to this site for the project tomorrow.

RECAP: DMV Trackstars Show

This past Monday night (8.15.16) was the showcase for #DMVTrackstars curated by MadeInTheDMV. After a few organizational hiccups, the show went off well with a packed crowd and a lot of positive energy. Here are a few pics from the event
