For my first live appearance in 2015, I was asked by a good friend Justin Trawick to accompany him and his indie folk rock band as they perform in Arlington, Virginia at their residency gig at IOTA Club. It was also Justin’s birthday, so it was very special to be there. I decided to come out there in my Wu-Tang sweater and flex my skills for the crowd and have some fun. Here’s a video filmed by a concertgoer:

NEW MUSIC: Redhead – Steady Building

This is actually one of my favorite songs I’ve ever done. I plan to use this for the Exxxactly EP. I did this a few years ago while I was living in between New York and Maryland while dealing with a confused manager. I’m very partial to making music that’s anthemic and vibrant. I like inspirational and hard hitting music that I can motivate me as well as party to. Some of my friends look up to my words for some reason. This is just an audio format of what I tell people who lament to me their struggles.

It’s no question that Halloween is my favorite holiday. Who could turn down a night of comedy, costumes, unexpected fun, and women in catsuits? This year was fun times because I was offered to perform for We Act Radio, a local platform that stands for art and political awareness. I’ve decided to perform in my costume in honor of JJ Evans from Good Times. Here are some Instagram clips courtesy of Damon Smiff.

RECAP: Redhead Performs at #ChillGrillHeal & Eugene Puryear on 10/25/2014

Over the weekend (10/25/2014), I performed at 2 events: One of which was on behalf of the non-profit Will Rap 4 Food for their Get Kids Movin’ event, an initiative that was spearheaded by Think Brown, Ink and Michelle Obama that’s geared to combat child obesity. They had it over at the Boulevard at the Capital Center in Largo, MD. We had a lot of fun out there. In the evening time, I did a very intimate set for Eugene Puryear and his colleagues as he’s running for DC Council At-Large. It was great times and I enjoyed meeting everyone on the campaign.

Below are the fliers and footage from these events.

NEWS: Redhead Visits @HowardU Homecoming in Shredders Apparel

20141020-002019.jpg

I’ve had a very interesting weekend by visiting my alma mater Howard University’s Homecoming! While seeing most of my old friends and associates, I was also wearing this dope sweater sent to me by Shredders Apparel, a clothing line based in Texas. It is a Cosby-ish sweater designed in tribute to Wu-Tang Clan’s 36 Chambers. I’m a BIG fan of the Wu and also have a cool relationship with Method Man, so I was honored to wear such a thing. I visited the Yardfest on the campus grounds, then migrated across the city for the newly established event MeccaFest where I did a cameo on stage with Paperboy The Prince and hung out with Elle Varner. I also got reacquainted with an old friend which turned to hanging with a new friend named Sevyn Streeter.

Here’s some pics from this weekend to check out! Thank you to Tyrone & Fly Carla.

20141008-025023.jpg

Over the weekend of October 4th, 2014, I was invited to do a show for the Cakes & Kisses event to open for Nitty Scott, Akrobatik, and Dice Raw. It was located in the heart of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, NY. I had a lot of fun out there while meeting some dope artists and having chicken & waffle flavored cupcakes (Seriously, those things were hittin! Shouts to Yaya’s Cakes).

This song is called The Glow and it’s produced by a good friend Malik Hunter. He’s the bass player for the funk/soul band Nat Turner and is currently on tour with Aaron Abernathy.

Be sure to catch me in Brooklyn, NY this weekend at The Paper Box with Nitty Scott, Dice Raw, & Akrobatik! Tix are available on the Events page.

NEW: Redhead Appears on @DJHeatDC & @JudahOnTheBEATS Mixtape

20140915-085956.jpg

My record “Too Much” is currently featured on a mixtape put together by WPGC 95.5’s own DJ Heat and DMV producer Judah. The tape is called Summer’s Over and it features a variety of different artists from the DC metropolitan area. Haha @ Heat reminding me that I was mad at her for not putting me on a mixtape. Years later, it all comes full circle. I appreciate you!!

NEW FREESTYLE: Redhead – Red Zone: The Ferguson Coverage

20140901-011413.jpg

I decided to drop a freestyle about the recent events of Ferguson, Missouri over one of my favorite beats – Rae Sremmurd’s No Flex Zone – after pretty much watching CNN and having numerous conversations with friends and colleagues about the whole situation. Some of my friends have went to Ferguson and told me stories while I was at protests for the cause here in Washington, DC. I don’t like the recent coverage as displayed by our media thus far, and I don’t like the complacency of the youth when it comes to these situations happening time and time again. I feel we need to have another conversation and further understand each other. Don’t you? I like to be safe and focused instead of lost and frustrated.

P.S. After I posted this freestyle on my Twitter page, a young man who suffers from Sickle Cell Anemia responded to me and we had a dope conversation. Check it out!
